The Dayton Nannies Blogging

Welcome to our official blog! Here we hope to feature musings and writings from our local nannies. None of us consider ourselves "bloggers" but we want to be able to connect with the community and share some of our professional insight.

As for myself, I'm one half of the Managing Team at The Dayton Nannies. My name is Valerie and I have lived in The Greater Dayton area for almost five years now. I'm from Austin, Texas where it is Summer 75% of the year. My apologies if all my posts this winter have whining about the freezing temps. Texans aren't built for this climate!

I nanny for a two year old boy, J and as of Saturday morning, a two day old baby girl, E. I have been a nanny for about ten years. I previously and simultaneously taught at Jackie's Performing Arts and Private Education. (Pre-School and Spanish PK-7th grade.)

I have a passion for helping families raise brave, independent, kind, and intelligent children. I often get asked, "When are you going to return to your real job?" The answer is, "This is my real job." I can't imagine a different life. Being a nanny is so rewarding and hard at the same time. We have the privilege of stepping into the life of a family and helping them day in and day out. And then one day, if we did our job right, we are no longer needed. Babies grow up and the goodbyes are heart wrenching. But as Winnie the Pooh says, "How lucky am I to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard."

My partner and best friend Nanny Pam will be stepping in soon with a small blurb about herself! We are so excited to finally launch our website and blog.
