Nannies are natural care givers. Our jobs day in and day out revolve around caring for the well-being of little ones who need us. I know that I feel incredibly blessed to have the honor of nurturing and caring for my charges, but sometimes my tank can run empty if I don’t take care of myself.

(This shirt is the best embodiment of #NannyLife!)

While the idea of self-care may seem out of reach, in practice, it doesn’t have to cost money or even much time. Self-care can and should be simple.

I want to challenge you to take some time today to give your self some self love and self-care. It can be something as simple as buying a face mask and using it while watching your favorite show. Here’s some of my favorite ways to really spend some time filling up my tank so that I can be the best version of myself for others.

If you can squeeze it into your day, take a nap. Every situation, problem, stressor can be sorted after some good rest.

Close your eyes and start a playlist of music you love. Get up when you feel recharged and dance around!

Step outdoors. Breathe in some fresh air. This next step works wonders, take off your shoes and walk on good ol’ Planet Earth. Grounding myself with Mother Nature is one of my most powerful tools.

When I’m feeling down I make lists. I start by writing down three things I’m blessed to have. Three things I’m grateful for. Three people that help fill my tank, etc. It really lifts my spirits to see all the good in my life.

Baths. A long, warm bath. Favorite book and candles included. Turn off all distractions like your phone and lights.

If you’re like me, you sometimes just need a good cry. Watch your favorite sad movie and let it all out. I will pop in Selena and bawl like a baby every single time.

These are just a few of my favorite ways to give myself the self-care I need. Let me know your tried and true methods. Be kind to yourself today! (And every day!)
